Denmark’s ‘Hiccup’ breaks records

Danish producer Regner Grasten’s “Love at First Hiccup 2: Anja and Victor” broke local box office records in its opening this past weekend.

The $1.4 million romantic comedy targeted at youth auds grossed $11 million from 151,000 admissions on 101 prints, breaking the record held by Disney’s “The Lion King” with 125,000 tickets sold.

Pic, starring Sofie Lassen-Kahlke and Robert Hansen, is a follow-up to 1999’s hit “Love at First Hiccup,” which sold 500,000 tickets and 150,000 video units in Denmark.

Regner Grasten Film is one of only two Danish companies that has made a profit from feature production in the last 10 years.
