CTIT raises Kent to exec veep

Will also work on o'seas TV p'gramming

Steve Kent has been promoted to exec VP, international productions, for Columbia TriStar Intl. TV and will continue to manage locally created shows in the major territories throughout the world.

Kent, who reports to CTIT’s prexy Michael Grindon, will also collaborate with the division’s management on the development and production of international TV programming targeted to specific local and national markets.

Under Kent’s direction CTIT has emerged as a leader in producing original programming for the international marketplace, delivering more than 5,000 hours of programming per year outside the U.S.

The move into local production eight years ago was meant to supplement the revenues that the division generates from sales of U.S. produced shows to foreign outlets.

CTIT’s foreign-produced oeuvre includes productions in Germany, France, the U.K., Italy, Latin America, China, India, Australia and Turkey.

In the U.S. marketplace, Kent has expanded the effort to include the production of Spanish-lingo programming for such outlets as Hispanic broadcaster Telemundo.

“Steve has maximized the efficiencies of our international production unit while also expanding our operations in this important area. His skills in production and his sense for what appeals to local audiences will continue to be a valuable asset in our international development efforts and our local partners,” Grindon said.
