Screenwriter-helmer Frank Pugliese, a former artistic director of Gotham’s Naked Angels Theater, is developing “Italian,” a feature about Italian emigres in America, at GreeneStreet Films.
Marisa Tomei and Stanley Tucci will stage a reading of the “Italian” screenplay at the sixth Nantucket Film Fest, which runs June 20-24.
Set in 1978, Pugliese’s story centers on a family’s efforts to assimilate in America a year after arriving from Italy.
The reading in Nantucket is part of an ongoing series of staged readings at the fest. The largest film fest in New England, Nantucket is dedicated to screenwriting, and this year features several films by writer-directors, including Eva Gardos, whose “American Rhapsody” opens the fest.
The staged reading will be co-produced by Naked Angels.
