‘Killer’ stalks Toronto

World Brief

Emperor Multimedia Group will be making gory noises at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival with the world premiere of “Ichi the Killer,” a gangland thriller co-produced with Japan’s Omega Group.

Pic, starring Japanese indie icon Tadanobu Asano, will screen in the festival’s Midnight Madness section. Director Takashi Miike, who picked up the Fipresci Award at Rotterdam 2000 for “Audition,” oversaw the mutilated-body-filled pic’s adaptation from an ultraviolent manga comic by Hideo Yamamoto.
