CANNES — Goran Visnjic, the Croatian actor best known for his role in TV drama “ER,” will star in “Doctor Sleep,” a British supernatural thriller directed by Nick Willing.
He’ll play a hypnotherapist with telepathic powers who gets caught up in the pursuit of a ritualistic killer.
The $10 million pic, which starts shooting May 13 in London, is adapted by Willing from the novel by Madison Smartt Bell.
Pic co-stars Shirley Henderson, (“Bridget Jones’s Diary”), Paddy Considine, (“A Room for Romeo Brass”), Miranda Otto (“Human Nature”) and Corin Redgrave. (“Enigma”).
Visnjic’s film credits include “Welcome to Sarajevo,” “Practical Magic,” “Committed” and the upcom-ing “The Deep End” (unspooling in the Directors Fortnight), but “Doctor Sleep” is his first leading feature role.
Pic is produced by Michele Camarda of Kismet Films, who previously produced Willing’s “Photographing Fairies.” and backed by U.K. lotto franchise the Film Consortium and BBC Films, with gap financing from DG Bank. International sales are handled by the Sales Co.
