CANNES — Lot 47 has taken North American rights to Claire Denis’ out-of-competition shocker, the $8 million “Trouble Every Day.”
It’s StudioCanal unit Wild Bunch’s first U.S. deal at Cannes, and a first sale for the Denis pic, which will have a midnight screening Sunday.
Wild Bunch chief Vincent Maraval told Variety: “We didn’t want to pre-sell the film because it is very shocking, and we preferred to show it to buyers in its finished form.”
Pic, which is said to include hardcore sex, gore and cannibalism, stars Vincent Gallo, Tricia Vessey, Beatrice Dalle, Alex Descas, Jose Garcia and Aurore Clement.
Wild Bunch has four films in com-petition here: Jean-Luc Godard’s “Eloge de l’amour,” Nanni Moretti’s “The Son’s Room,” Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s “The Sun Behind the Moon” and Hirokazu Kore-eda’s “Distance.”
