The first Indian pavilion at the Cannes Intl. Film Festival conducted $250,000 of business this year, including a number of co-production deals with firms in the U.S., U.K., Germany and France.

Its success will encourage more aggressive marketing of Indian movies at Cannes and other international fests, according to information and broadcasting minister Sushma Swaraj. The minister said the government would play an active role in facilitating the export of Indian movies.
