Director Bruce Beresford and writer Patrick Edgeworth, currently collaborating on “Boswell for the Defence,” are re-teaming for “The World Underneath,” which is in development at Warner Bros.
Like “Boswell,” “The World Underneath” is a period drama set in the 18th century when Australia was a prison colony.
A young couple, transported to Australia from Cornwall, risk everything to escape. Producer is Dylan Sellers.
“Boswell,” which starts shooting in June, will star Michael Caine, Michael Gambon and Samantha Morton. It’s based on Edgeworth’s play about a young woman being tried for escaping from Australia, and the lawyer who defends her.
Another project scripted by Edgeworth, “Guns, Money and Homecooking,” is set to shoot in August. Directed by Nadia Tass and produced by Phillip Emanuel, it’s a contemporary caper about a group of East End guys on the lam who hole up in a lighthouse run by a canny old lady.
