Heavy, Midway team on game deal

Cyberbiz Brief

New York-based entertainment Netcaster and production company Heavy has inked a deal with Midway Games to license six of the gamemaker’s arcade titles and make them available on the dot com. According to the deal, Shockwave versions of the games Joust, Rampage, Root Beer Tapper Defender, Sinistar and SpyHunter will be available for play at heavy.com in the coming weeks. While Midway considers licensing its games to dot coms a major revenue generator for the company, financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. “These are classic ’80s videogames and we’re excited to have them as part of the Heavy universe,” said Simon Assaad, Heavy founder and co-CEO. “In addition, this will offer us some interesting sales and packaging opportunities, allowing us to go after advertisers in the videogame and nostalgia markets.”
