Robert Friedman, president of AOL TV, will give the opening keynote address at Mipnet, the three-day tech conference (Oct. 8-10) taking place during TV’s Mipcom market in Cannes, organizer Reed Midem said Thursday.

Friedman will evoke the launch of AOL TV, an interactive system giving TV viewers access to AOL features such as email, instant messaging and chat as well as other new services.

Other Mipnet highlights include the panel sessions on broadband, competition between telecoms and TV on the Internet, terrestrial digital TV and Interactive TV.

The conference will wrap Oct. 10 with a panel on “Mixing TV and Internet Programming.”
