Kevin Kutchaver, co-founder of f/x boutique Flat Earth Prods., has formed f/x facility Himani Prods with DreamWorks Animation supervising animator Kathy Zielinski.
The Burbank-based company specializes in the creation of original visual f/x for feature films, television projects and home entertainment releases. At present, the company employs over a dozen visual effects artists and producers. Kutchaver serves as prexy and executive produces projects, while Zielinski serves as designer and co-creator for in-house projects.
Himani recently completed 100 f/x shots for the Universal Home Video sequel “Tremors 3.”
Flat Earth Prods was founded in 1995 to create the f/x for syndie TV hits “Hercules” and “Xena.” The company also created f/x for the pics “Blade,” “Mortal Kombat II” and “Dungeons and Dragons.”
Kutchaver’s personal credits include visual f/x work on the pics “Return of the Jedi,” “Ghostbusters II,” “Beetlejuice,” “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” and “Addams Family” I and II. Zielinski has animated characters appearing in such pics as “The Prince of Egypt,” “The Road to El Dorado” and the upcoming “Spirit of the Cimmaron.” She was also an animator for Walt Disney Studios, working on “The Black Cauldron,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin” and “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” among others.
