Argos, Telmex pact for zoom.tv

World Brief

Indie TV producer Argos has joined forces with Telmex, Mexico’s former state telephony monopoly, to launch audio-visual Internet portal zoom.tv.

Initially, the site will have three channels with pop videos and dedicated lifestyle content aimed at the youth market. One channel, El Inquilino (The Tenant), will feature streams taken from cameras placed inside teenagers’ homes.

Zoom.tv will be run through holding company Webland, set up by Argos — which earlier this year signed a production deal for U.S. Hispanic web Telemundo — Telmex and Inbursa, the investment bank of Telmex chairman Carlos Slim, Latin America’s richest man.
