U boosts Fleishman

Exec named senior veep of PR

Susan Nahley Fleishman has been upped to senior vice president for corporate communications and public affairs at Universal, effective July 1.

Fleishman, who joined Universal in 1995, assumes the role of lead corporate spokeswoman at U from the outgoing Deborah Rosen, with whom Fleishman worked at praisery Rosen & Co. prior to joining U. Rosen will ankle the studio Sept. 30 to return to independent corporate communications work.

“(Fleishman) has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and has built strong relationships across the company, the media and the industry,” said Universal Studios president and chief operating officer Ron Meyer. “I am delighted to announce this well-deserved promotion and look forward to continued achievements under Sue’s direction.”

Meyer lauded Rosen for “great vision and passion” and touted her efforts on behalf of various philanthropic programs. It has been expected that Rosen would leave U to focus more on outside charitable endeavors, but the communications exec wanted to remain long enough to ensure a smooth corporate transition under U’s new parent, Vivendi Universal.

Before joining Rosen & Co. in 1994, Fleishman was public affairs director at Sony Corp. of America and prior to that was assistant veep of public relations at Continental Insurance.
