Thompkins ankles Imageworks, joins Cinesite

Robin Thompkins has ankled Sony Pictures Imageworks to join Kodak-backed special f/x facility Cinesite as senior staffing manager at Cinesite Hollywood.

Thompkins reports to Gaston Bitar, Cinesite veep of human resources.

“We regard this as a vital role,” said Cinesite prexy and chief operating officer Ruth Scovill. “Robin is responsible for ensuring that we have the right mix of talented and experienced people on staff who thrive in our creative, high-tech environment.”

At Sony, Thompkins was director of staffing for the past six years and was responsible for supervising a worldwide recruiting effort. She filled more than 200 core staff positions and numerous hires for specific films, including “Starship Troopers,” “Contact,” “What Lies Beneath,” “Spider-Man” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.” Before that, Thompkins was a staffing consultant and corporate recruiter. Her clients included Sun America, Canon Information Systems and the Walt Disney Co.

Cinesite creates f/x for films, as well as offers digital mastering, digital film restoration, preservation and DVD authoring services.
