Pokemon look-a-likes in time for Xmas

Cyberbiz brief

Send in the clones: In an attempt to tap into “Pokemon” mania, Konami Corp, a major Japanese vidgame manufacturer, has inked a licensing deal with 4Kids Entertainment of New York to market the “YU-GI-OH! Duelmonsters” vidgame and card trading franchise in the U.S. for the Christmas season. In Japan, Konami has sold 3.5 billion cards and 7 million videgames for Nintendo’s Game Boy of the popular cartoon, originally started as a comic in 1996 and currently running as a 30-minute toon on TV Tokyo since last October. Basically a “Pokemon” clone, but with stronger cardgame feature, “YU-GI-OH” (meaning game king) is the first Konami product to be merchandized as a combined vidgame, cardgame and cartoon in the U.S. via 4Kids Entertainment.
