Sabrina Silverberg has been named to the newly created position of senior VP of music strategy and relations at MTV Networks, where she previously held the post of deputy general counsel, law and business affairs.
Appointment reps Silverberg’s return to MTV following a brief stint as exec VP of business affairs for Vulcan Programming II.
In her new post as the network’s chief business affairs and legal liaison with the recording industry, Silverberg will primarily be charged with developing music strategy, managing transactions and furnishing counsel on music-rights issues.
“As our company continues to grow in an ever-changing environment, so does the demand for a more intricate and integrated music strategy,” said MTV Networks exec VP and general counsel of law and business affairs David Sussman, to whom Silverberg will report. “Sabrina’s work handling music issues at MTV, as well as her experience in that arena handling business and legal strategy, make her particularly qualified for this important role.”
Before joining MTV in 1994, Silverberg was an attorney for NBC. Prior to that she was at Gotham-based firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges.
