PARIS — Tony Garland has ankled as prexy of Universal Studios Networks in the reorganization of the Canal Plus Group.
The London-based Universal Studios Networks became part of the group following the creation of Vivendi Universal last year.
Garland will not be replaced, Canal Plus sources said Wednesday, with senior execs in London now reporting directly to management in Paris.
The reorganization of Canal Plus’ TV businesses was set in motion in December, with the creation of a unit encompassing the group’s 40-odd TV channels, headed by Bibiane Godfroid, exec VP for channels and services.
Garland, who said he was “proud of the exceptionally talented and passionate teams” who worked under him, has not announced his future plans. He intends to “pursue other interests,” according to a statement from Canal Plus Group.
