Alan Bergman has been appointed senior VP and chief financial officer for the Walt Disney Studios.
Bergman, who joined the studio in 1996 and was most recently veep of the company’s operations planning group, will report directly to Richard Cook, chairman of the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, and Thomas Staggs, senior exec VP-chief financial officer of the Walt Disney Co.
“Alan is an essential member of the team,” Cook said. “He comes to us with knowledge of both the company and the studio, which is a great asset to us now and will be even more valuable as our varying business interests continue to develop. We are thrilled to have him in this position and know he’ll do a fantastic job.”
Staggs added: “Over the last several years, Alan has played a highly successful part in a number of important strategic and operational initiatives, including our efforts to increase cost and capital efficiencies throughout the company. He possesses a keen understanding of our studio businesses and exceptional strategic and analytic skills. We are extremely pleased to have him bring those strengths to bear in this important role.”
Bergman joined the Walt Disney Co. as a director in the corporate controllership group in 1996 with a focus on Disney Studios’ initiatives. In his former post as vice prexy of the operations planning group, he developed annual operating-profit, cash-flow and capital-spending plans and prepared quarterly and annual forecasts.
Before joining Disney, Bergman spent more than seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in its entertainment practice.
