MONTREAL — Lisa de Wilde has resigned her position as president and CEO of Astral Television Networks, Canada’s leading pay TV and specialty channel owner. Astral channels include the Movie Network, Moviepix, Viewer’s Choice, Super Ecran and Canal Indigo.
De Wilde, who was with Astral for eight years, will leave the company on Sept. 14 to pursue other opportunities, per an official Astral statement.
“Lisa has been very supportive of the Canadian film and television industry and of the cultural importance of a strong Canadian broadcasting system,” Astral chairman Andre Bureau said. “We will miss her passionate dedication. What exemplifies her style the most is her passion, her consumer-focused drive for excellence and her ability to lead a business that operates in two cultures and two markets.”
During de Wilde’s tenure at Astral, the combined subscriber base of the Movie Network and Super Ecran, its sister French-language movie channel, more than doubled, topping the 1.1. million mark. De Wilde also oversaw the introduction of new digital technologies, notably high-definition television and Dolby sound for pay television.
