Big Idea taps Botwick prexy

Exec to lead business strategie for company

Terry Botwick has been named president and chief operating officer of family media company Big Idea Prods.

Big Idea is best known for its children’s VeggieTales kids franchise.

Botwick, formerly senior VP at CBS Entertainment, president of worldwide TV distribution and production company Hearst Corp. from 1992-’94, and part of the senior management team of the Family Channel from 1986-’92, will be responsible for leading the business strategies in all areas of the company. His focus will include business affairs, interactive, human resources, production, design, marketing, licensing, development and Internet technology.

Big Idea is in production on its first full-length animated feature film, “Jonah — A VeggieTales Movie,” which will be released theatrically in the summer.

“The addition of Terry Botwick, who brings years of mainstream entertainment experience to our company, will reinforce our expansion into a full-fledged multiple-media company,” said Big Idea CEO and chief creative officer Phil Vischer, to whom Botwick will report.

“My attraction to Big Idea is related to a deep need for a culturally relevant family entertainment brand,” Botwick said.
