WB dons ‘PJs’ as Olympics alternative

Murphy's foamation skein to air Sundays at 7 p.m.

The Frog net will get an early jump on the fall season by counterprogramming the Summer Olympics with original episodes of “The PJs.”

The Warner Bros./Imagine/Will Vinton Studios foamation comedy segues to the WB beginning Friday, Sept. 8, at 8:30 p.m. Fox had been airing its leftover episodes of “The PJs” this summer.

The Eddie Murphy-voiced series officially airs Sundays at 7 p.m. once the season gets under way. In the meantime, after its WB debut, “The PJs” will get an additional Friday airing on Sept. 15 at 8:30 p.m.

The show joins the WB’s Sunday-night lineup beginning Sept. 10 but will air at 8:30 p.m. until the season starts. The weblet is expected to announce its fall roll-out dates shortly.

“We have been eagerly anticipating seeing ‘The PJs’ on our air since we acquired the series from Fox,” said Jordan Levin, exec VP of programming at the WB. “Our faith in this unique series, with broad crossover appeal, has been confirmed this summer with its strong performance across several key demographics.”
