USA skeds three new action series

'Kill!, 'Manhattan,' 'Huntress' to replace 'Nikita'

NEW YORK — USA Networks has slotted three new series following the recent cancellation of action skeins “La Femme Nikita” (Daily Variety, May 15) and “Pacific Blue.”

Starting July 23 “Kill! Kill! Kill!” will air Sundays at 9 p.m. Half-hour comedy centers on a retired CIA agent who is pulled into mortal combat each week by his arch foe, only to reanimate and do it all over again.

Another half-hour laffer, “Manhattan, AZ,” will follow in the Sunday 9:30 slot, also starting July 23. Skein about a single father who goes from big-city cop to small-town sheriff is being exec produced by David Richardson (“Malcolm in the Middle”).

New hourlong “The Huntress,” starring Annette O’Toole, will premiere Wed., July 26 at 10. Drama about a bounty hunter’s widow who takes over her late husband’s “business” follows ongoing series “Cover Me,” which moves to Wednesdays at 9 starting July 26.

Ratings for “Pacific Blue” were at a low ebb last fall, getting only a 1.5 for Sept. 20-Dec. 5, 1999 compared with a 2.3 rating for the same period in 1998 (Daily Variety Dec. 9, 1999).
