Richard Hatch, a brash strategizing corporate trainer from Rhode Island, won the $1 million ‘Survivor’ jackpot Wednesday in a surprise finale to the cult hit that drew millions of Americans to their televisions every week this summer. In the final round of the wildly popular CBS reality show, 39-year-old Hatch — a gay man who made no bones about his ruthless pursuit of the grand prize — beat 23-year-old river guide Kelly Wiglesworth, people’s favorite Rudy Boesch — a 72-year-old father of three and ex-Navy SEAL — and 38-year- old truck driver Susan Hawk.
