Reo, Touchstone TV ink deal

Writer-producer to pen script for Wayans sitcom

Veteran sitcom scribe-producer Don Reo has inked a low seven-figure deal to pen two scripts for Touchstone Television — including the upcoming Damon Wayans sitcom now in development at ABC.

Reo, who created and exec produced the long-running NBC comedy hits “The John Larroquette Show” and “Blossom,” is expected to turn his attention first to the Wayans project. ABC has given a 13-seg commitment to the show, which will likely be a family laffer with the comedian at the center (Daily Variety, Aug. 30).

For his second script, industry insiders believe that Reo may be talking to ABC about coming aboard to write the pilot script for a possible Brett Butler comedy now in the talking stages at the Alphabet web (Daily Variety, Jan. 20).

Reo most recently served as an exec producer on Fox’s critically hailed but short-lived single-camera comedy “Action.” Before that, he teamed with former “Cheers” star Rhea Perlman to create the CBS comedy “Pearl.”

Paradigm Entertainment brokered Reo’s deal.
