Metro skeds 3 series preems

Cabler sets '3rd Date,' 'Club,' 'New Joke'

Metro, the 24-hour cable network that beams into about 3.8 million homes in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, has scheduled three new weekly hourlong series to premiere later this month: “3rd Date,” “Club La Bomba” and “New Joke City With Robert Klein.”

The premise of “3rd Date” is that cameras follow a couple as they go out together on their crucial third date, the “kiss-and-tell, make-it-or-break-it, juncture time in the dating ritual” when the two are either “ready to emotionally commit and get physical, or call the whole thing off,” according to Metro.

Each hour will shadow three couples on their third dates, taping their dinner table conversation and interviewing them one-on-one to get post-mortems the day after the watershed dates. BNNtv.com is co-producer with Metro.

“Club La Bomba” is a dance party focusing on Latin music produced by National Entertainment for Metro, and the host is Sofia Vergara, a fashion model from Colombia.

“New Joke City With Robert Klein” mixes standup comedy with a documentary feature in each hour cataloguing a day in the life of one of the comics.

Metro has also bought four off-network series set in New York City: “Welcome Back, Kotter,” “The Days & Nights of Molly Dodd,” “New York News” (a limited-run series with Mary Tyler Moore) and “NY Daze.”
