Kids’ WB! reups ‘Static’

Series leads time period in kids 2-11

NEW YORK — Kids’ WB! has ordered an additional 13 episodes of “Static Shock” from Warner Bros. Animation, ensuring that the animated adventure series will return for a second season in fall 2001.

Since its premiere on Sept. 23, “Static Shock” has led its time period among the broadcast nets in kids 2-11 and in other key kid demos.

“We are excited that kids have responded as strongly to Static, a new kind of teen superhero with real humor and heart, as we expected they would,” said Kids’ WB! senior VP Donna Friedman.

Based on the Milestone/DC Comics property, “Static Shock” follows the adventures of Virgil Hawkins, who becomes the electromagnetic “Static,” a superhero to his community. The series introduced the first animated African-American teen superhero.
