Telepiu, Telecom Italia agree to distribute digital bouquet D+

MILAN — Telepiu, Italy’s leading pay TV operator, has signed an agreement with Telecom Italia to distribute its digital bouquet D+ on the telco group’s cable network, Telepiu president and CEO Michel Thoulouze announced Monday in Rome.

Starting in October, Telepiu will be able to reach 500,000 households connected to the Telecom network in seven major Italian cities, including Milan, Rome, Florence and Turin.

Telepiu, which is controlled by France’s pay TV giant Canal Plus, currently distributes its channels only via satellite and has more than 1.5 million subscribers with about 2 million subscription contracts (some customers hold more than one).
