PARIS — Some 400 buyers and 135-140 exhibitors have signed up to attend what promises to be a star-studded 40th Monte Carlo Television Festival, running Feb. 18-21.
In a new initiative by fest organizers, guests of honor Jane Seymour, Roger Moore and David E. Kelley will receive Gold Nymph awards for their service to television.
Tippi Hedren, Kathleen Turner and Kelley’s wife, Michele Pfeiffer, will also lend glamour to the occasion, along with a posse of stars from cult series past and present, including Cheryl Ladd, Peter Graves and Robert Stack.
The TV Market, now in its 22nd year, has notched up 15 new exhibitors, fest secretary General David Tomatis said Thursday at a Paris press conference, also addressed by festival president Prince Albert.
While business deals will be uppermost in the minds of marketgoers, Tomatis pointed out that they will have plenty of opportunities to party, as a large number of receptions will mark this special anniversary year.
The Grand Prix docu jury will be headed by balloonist Bertrand Piccard.
