MIAMI — Disney Latam is expected to announce the launch of a Portuguese-lingo channel for Brazil in Sao Paulo today.
Disney Latam has scheduled the press conference with satcaster Galaxy Brasil. The Mouse House already has an exclusive 10-year direct-to-home deal with Galaxy’s DirecTV service for its Spanish-lingo web, which bowed July 27.
Disney has two separate feeds for the Spanish-lingo markets, one from Mexico and another from Argentina. The channel features a mix of original Disney programming and acquired programming, but Disney is also co-producing in Mexico and Argentina to give the signals a more localized flavor.
On cable, Disney Latino is only available as a premium channel. HBO Latam Group handles cable distribution.
