Columbia TriStar International Television (CTIT) has signed exclusive regional production agreements with Romania’s Creative Vision International and South Africa’s Both Worlds Entertainment. Paul Gilbert, CTIT’s vice president for International Program Development and Format Sales, unveiled the deals Wednesday.
The deals by CTIT are part of the renewed interest in formats worldwide sparked by the success of local versions of reality skeins and gameshows like Endemol’s “Big Brother” and Celador’s “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.”
Extensive library of shows
Both Worlds and Creative Vision will each have the right to produce shows from CTIT’s extensive library of more than 80 gameshow and light entertainment show formats. Additionally, CTIT will work closely with both companies to provide production assistance in the localization and launch of the various series throughout each region.
Creative Vision International, which currently produces CTIT’s “Black Jack Bowling” and “Dating Game” for broadcast on Prima TV, will provide CTIT programming to terrestrial stations and cablers throughout Romania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia and Croatia.
Both Worlds Entertainment holds CTIT production rights throughout South Africa.
