NEW YORK — CNNfn, the cable business news network from CNN News Group, will expand to 24 hours of coverage beginning in June.
The cabler — which has lagged behind rival CNBC in distribution — hopes the move to around-the-clock coverage from 18 hours daily will give it a much-needed boost. CNNfn is available in more than 13 million homes while CNBC is available in 72 million.
“The expansion to 24 hours is a milestone for CNNfn,” said Shelby Coffey III, president of CNN Business News and CNNfn. “With around-the-clock programming and our upcoming expansion to the West Coast, CNNfn is uniquely positioned to cover the new economy, the global economy and to meet the needs of primetime viewers in Western time zones.”
CNNfn currently airs 6 a.m. to midnight weekdays and is supplemented in most markets by CNN Intl.
