Former “Mad About You” and “Seinfeld” scribe Larry Charles has inked a deal to serve as exec producer of Fox’s midseason laffer “The Tick.”
Charles, who most recently was exec producer of UPN’s animation comedy “Dilbert,” will serve as showrunner of the live-action skein from Columbia TriStar Television. He joins exec producers Barry Sonnenfeld, Barry Josephson and Ben Edlund.
“The Tick” stars another “Seinfeld” alum, Patrick Warburton, as a crime-fighting superhero. Show was a fave of many Fox execs during development season and has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the 8:30 p.m. Sunday slot should the net decided to move “Malcolm in the Middle” midseason.
Charles was a scribe and exec producer of NBC’s “Mad About You” for two seasons, starting in 1995. He spent four seasons on “Seinfeld,” joining the show early during its run as an executive story editor. He became a supervising producer on the skein in 1991.
Deal was brokered by manager Gavin Polone and attorney Melanie Cook.
