NEW YORK — Veteran CBS executive Gil Schwartz has been promoted to executive VP, communications, CBS Television.
Schwartz will report to CBS TV topper Leslie Moonves. Prior to the company’s merger with Viacom in mid-May, Schwartz was senior veep of communications at CBS Corp.
As the top communications exec at CBS Television, Schwartz will continue to be responsible for overseeing public relations, media relations and corporate and internal communications functions for all of CBS TV’s media businesses and operations. He will also serve as CBS TV’s communications liaison with its parent corporation, Viacom.
“No communications executive in our industry has such wide-ranging experience in media relations, corporate communications and strategic planning as Gil,” said Moonves. “Gil’s unmatched expertise, his insight, his advice and humor remain invaluable to CBS Television’s success as we continue to grow as part of the new Viacom.”
Schwartz joined CBS in 1996 after 14 years with Westinghouse Broadcasting (Group W), where he was responsible for all aspects of the company’s operations before its merger with CBS.
