Bravo Cable Network and the Fremantle Corporation have pacted to co-produce a two-hour special that addresses the growing mutual reliance between Hollywood and Washington, D.C.
Program, dubbed “Hollywood DC,” will preem on Bravo Nov. 6 — the eve of the national election.
Stories of how politicians have enlisted movie stars and Hollywood moguls to further their careers and causes, and vice versa, will be told by Martin Sheen, Richard Dreyfuss, Oliver Stone, Motion Picture Assn. of America topper Jack Valenti, and Variety editor-in-chief Peter Bart, among others.
The special, which includes scenes from “Bulworth,” “Barton Fink,” “Election,” “The Candidate” and rare archival footage, will be introduced by Fremantle to international TV programmers in October at MIPCOM.
Written and directed by Kenneth Bowser (director of the Emmy award-winning “Frank Capra’s American Dream,”) “Hollywood DC” is produced by Rachel Talbot and Kenneth Bowser. Executive producer for Fremantle is Josh Braun, and Frances Berwick, Laura Pierce and Charles Derbyshire for Bravo.
