Veteran NBC News correspondent David Bloom has been named co-anchor of the weekend editions of NBC News’ “Today.”
Bloom– who has appeared regularly on the program since former co-anchor Jack Ford exited for ABC News in August — will join Soledad O’Brien as co-host effective immediately.
In addition to his responsibilities at weekend “Today,” Bloom will continue to contribute to other NBC News programs.
Most recently, Bloom has been covering the Republican presidential race for NBC News. Previously, he was NBC News’ White House correspondent, reporting for “NBC Nightly News,” “Today” and “Meet the Press.” He also contributed reports to MSNBC, CNBC and MSNBC.com.
Prior to being named White House correspondent in March 1997, Bloom was an L.A.-based correspondent for NBC News beginning in May 1995. He joined NBC as a Chicago-based correspondent in 1993.
