NEW YORK — TNT has commissioned a four-hour miniseries based on a forthcoming history of the transcontinental railroad by Stephen Ambrose, the bestselling author of “D-Day” and “Band of Brothers.”
Bob Rehme Prods. and Phoenix Prods. will produce the as-yet-untitled mini; Rehme will co-exec produce with Nick Grillo. Bob Cochran will write the adaptation, while no director or cast has been set.

TNT’s next scheduled mini is “Nuremberg,” a docudrama about the Nuremberg trials held in the aftermath of WWII. Project stars Alec Baldwin as the judge assigned to render a verdict on the Nazi leaders under indictment.
