NBC has named JoAnn Alfano senior vice president of comedy development.
Veteran Peacock programming exec most recently served as head of drama development at the web. In her new position, she’ll report to Karey Burke, NBC’s exec VP of primetime series development.
“JoAnn has a great track record developing both dramas and comedies for the network, and we look forward to having her continue as an important contributor to our future success,” NBC Entertainment prexy Garth Ancier said.
Before taking over the top drama job in May 1999, Alfano spent five years as VPof primetime series for NBC Studios. While at the Peacock production arm, she helped supervise the creative and production elements for series such as “Will & Grace,” “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
Prior to her run at NBC Studios, Alfano worked as director of comedy programs at NBC Entertainment. She had also served as director of media relations for NBC.
