It was a tight squeeze at Chelsea hotspot Lotus Wednesday night for the Gotham premiere after-party of John Waters’ “Cecil B. Demented,” hosted by Artisan and Paper Magazine.
After pic screened at Loews Village VII, partygoers as well as Waters and stars Patricia Hearst and Adrian Grenier packed the venue and surrounded some unsuspecting diners as well.
Waters pointed out the differences between himself and his film’s desperate, by-any-means-necessary director, played by Stephen Dorff. “I was not a victim of cinematic abuse,” he said. “My parents gave me money to make crappy movies.”
Among those on hand for the festivities were Artisan exec VP of worldwide marketing Amorette Jones, and guests Amy Heckerling, Whit Stillman, Wes Anderson, Kyle MacLachlan, Ann Magnuson, Sean “Puffy” Combs, Kid Rock and Simon Le Bon.
Although an incidental guest at the fete, Lotus-diner Les Moonves looked to be enjoying the company of the revelers.
