David Ovitz

David Ovitz, father of AMG co-founder Michael Ovitz, died Monday at UCLA Medical Center in Westwood. He was 79.

A native of Chicago, he was a member of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and fought in the North African and Italian campaigns during World War II.

In addition to Michael, he is survived by his wife, Sylvia, another son, Mark, and four grandchildren.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Sinai Memorial Park, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to the David Ovitz Memorial Fund benefiting UCLA Medical Sciences, c/o Nancy Sacks, Medical Sciences Development, 10945 Le Conte Ave., Suite 3132, Los Angeles, CA 90095.
