Bill “The Fox” Foster, Los Angeles barroom performer and emcee of Comedy Central’s “The Man Show,” died May 10 at his home in Santa Monica following a prolonged battle with prostate cancer. He was 68.
Foster, known as the ‘World’s Fastest Beer drinker,’ was best known as the proprietor of the eponymously named Fox Inn, a well known West-side tavern, from 1961 to 1989. During the 1980s Foster became a frequent guest star on “The Jeffersons,” “Taxi” and “The Mike Douglas Show.”
A lifetime member of the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, Foster is survived by a son, a daughter, a brother, and his companion of 24 years, Nancy Grade.
