NEW YORK — Ken Lane, former VP of promotions for Arista, has been tapped senior VP of promotions for the Island Def Jam Music Group.
Lane will be responsible for the label’s radio and video promotions and will oversee the daily operations of the promotions department. He will report to Def Jam’s co-prexies, Lyor Cohen and John Reid.
Jim Caparro, Def Jam chairman and CEO, said in a statement, “I am extremely excited about this appointment. Ken offers Island Def Jam the opportunity to take the existing strengths of our promotion team to a whole new level.”
Of his appointment, Lane told Daily Variety, “I am thrilled. It’s an opportunity I’ve wanted for a long time. … There is an endless opportunity for success at Island Def Jam.”
Formerly, Lane was VP of promotions at Arista for three years. Prior to joining Arista, Lane was VP of promotions at Jive, and before that, Lane worked in the promotion departments at EMI, SBK/Chrysalis and Lorimar Pictures.
