WWF smacks the vote

Grappler group urging viewers to hit the polls

The World Wrestling Federation Wednesday kicked off the “Smack Down Your Vote” campaign at the Republican National Convention in Philadelphia.

“WWF fans are a cross-section of Americana. They are the voice of the people, and they will elect the next president of the United States,” said World Wrestling Federation Entertainment CEO Linda McMahon in outlining the campaign.

The WWF has about 14 million devoted viewers, according to McMahon, who was on hand for much of the Republican confab. She also will attend the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles later this month.

Republicans, meanwhile, had a special WWF moment Wednesday night when the Rock helped Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert open the evening’s proceedings.
