Hey, if this whole UPN network thing doesn’t work out, chief operating officer Adam Ware and senior veepee of publicity Paul McGuire could always look into drive-time radio.
Listeners tuning into L.A.’s KIIS-FM last Monday for their fix of the Backstreet Boys, Sugar Ray and Lenny Kravitz were also treated to the wacky new DJ duo “Adam & Paul.”
In between the latest bubblegum pop, Adam & Paul managed to work in multiple plugs for UPN and took calls from UPN stars including “Star Trek Voyager’s” Robert Picardo, “Freedom’s” Bodhi Elfman and “WWF Smackdown’s” the Rock. The kooky team also spent plenty of time ribbing each other.
The duo then momentarily halted their comedy shtick to dedicate the weepy ‘N Sync ballad “This I Promise You” to their wives.
KIIS invites local suits to play DJ during the station’s daily lunchtime “Corporate Takeover” show. Ware and McGuire landed the on-air gig after faxing KIIS for their own slot on the show. And, no, Rick Dees doesn’t have to watch his back.
