NEW YORK — Radio personality Paul Harvey has signed a 10-year contract with ABC Radio Networks, marking his 50th year with the company.

“We are thrilled that our relationship with this broadcasting legend will continue into the next millennium, informing and enlightening millions of Americans for years to come,” said Traug Keller, president of ABC Radio Networks.

Harvey began broadcasting on the ABC Radio Networks in 1951, with “Paul Harvey News and Comment.” In 1976, he launched “The Rest of the Story.” His show currently airs on approximately 1,200 radio stations as well as 400 Armed Forces Network stations heard around the world.

Harvey’s wife and son are also on board in the deal. Lynne “Angel” Harvey has signed a new contract with ABC Radio Networks as producer of “Paul Harvey News.” Paul Harvey Jr. will continue to write “The Rest of the Story.”

“I’ve found a wonderful home here at ABC Radio, and I look forward to continuing to build relationships with loyal listeners,” Harvey said. “We’re in the midst of one of the most exciting periods in American history, and I look forward to covering the stories and trends of the next decade.”
