Alicia Witt will star in “The Gift,” the new musical being directed by Andy Fickman, who won the L.A. Ovation award earlier this year for helming “Reefer Madness.” Tuner opens July 15 at the Tiffany Theater.
Geffen Records will be recording the musical — book by Robbie Fox (“So I Married an Axe Murderer”), music and lyrics by Steve Fox — for a soundtrack release. Film producer Craig Baumgarten (“It Could Happen to You,” “Love Stinks”) leads a production team that includes Gary Adelson, Adam Merims and Steve Berman.
Witt starred in “Cecil B. Demented,” “Playing Mona Lisa” and “Urban Legend” and last season guest-starred on “The Sopranos” and “Ally McBeal.” Making her L.A. stage debut in “The Gift,” she will play an exotic dancer at a bachelor party whose “gift” changes the lives of the five men in attendance.
The cast includes “Reefer Madness” vets Robert Torti, Larry Poindexter and John Kassir as well as Burke Moses and James Barbour of “Beauty and the Beast.”
