USA Films has inked a two-year, first-look deal with Gus Van Sant and his Gotham-based production company, Meno Film Co. Under the deal, Meno will produce and Van Sant may direct projects for USA Films. Dany Wolf will serve as Van Sant’s production partner in the deal.
Van Sant is in post on Columbia Pictures’ “Finding Forrester” starring Sean Connery, F. Murray Abraham and Anna Paquin.
Wolf previously headed his own production company, Kime Films, which produced commercials helmed by John Woo and Wes Anderson.
Wolf has produced a number of Van Sant’s own ad spots, videos and short films, and served as exec producer on the director’s remake of “Psycho” as well as “Finding Forrester.”
“Gus Van Sant is one of the most acclaimed filmmakers working today,” said USA Films chairman Scott Greenstein, who made the announcement with president Russell Schwartz and production president Donna Gigliotti. “I am delighted that he has chosen to make USA Films his home.”
The William Morris Agency repped Van Sant and Wolf in the deal.
