Sun Valley takes shine to fest

Films bow in October at the Opera House

Add Sun Valley, Idaho, to the list of new film fest sites: The first Sun Valley Film Festival will be held Oct. 26-29 in the city Opera House.

Fest, organized by Wanda Petitclerc, will feature new and classic films as well as seminars, panel discussions and tributes to actors.

Events include the George C. Scott Lifetime Achievement Award, kudos for the most promising new actor and actress, sneak previews to two major movies, an indie pic series and a selection of docs.

Seminars on craft

Seminars will focus on actors, producers, directors and screenwriters, among others, enumerating their craft. Thom Mount, prexy of the Producers Guild of America, will lead the producing seminar while Jon Turteltaub will oversee the directors event.

Advisory board includes Saul Turteltaub, Jon Turteltaub, Martin Sheen, Bud Yorkin, Martin Ransohoff, Thom Mount, William Innes, Trish Van Devere, Robert L. Stein and Warren Cowan.

Beneficiaries of fest profits will include the Motion Picture and Television Fund Foundation, student scholarships and the Sun Valley Film Festival Advanced Education Scholarship Program.
