Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino is committed to star in and Demian Lichtenstein (“3000 Miles to Graceland”) is negotiating to helm the indie pic “Wisegirls,” with RGH Lions Share Pictures on board to handle international sales.
Pic will be exec produced by Richard Donner and produced by Billy Blake, Jack Sojka and Bill Blum. Script was penned by John Meadows.
Slated for a fall start, “Wisegirls” tells the story of three waitresses in a Mafia-owned restaurant.
Blake, the founder and publisher of Millimeter magazine, has produced such films as “Rhinestone,” “Pumpkinhead” and “Hunter’s Moon.” Sojka recently produced “Horror 101” with Bo Derek. Blum worked as a production exec for Leonard Nimoy’s company.
In addition to the “Lethal Weapon” series, Donner produced “The Omen” and “Maverick.” He served as exec producer on such pics as “Free Willy,” “The Lost Boys,” “Any Given Sunday” and the upcoming “X-Men.”
Sorvino next appears in “Famous”.
