Moving from veepee of production to producer, Dana Reid has ankled Artisan Entertainment’s exec suites for a first-look production deal at the indie with his Flash Entertainment banner.
Reid joined Artisan in July 1997, brought in by Artisan prexy Bill Block. In his three years there, he worked on seven pics, including “Belly” and “Foolish.”
Reid’s Flash Entertainment is planning sequels to Artisan pics “Stir of Echoes” and “Belly,” as well as developing projects that include “Omniscience” a sci-fi thriller with Dark Horse Comics; “Wu Tang vs. Shaolin” starring hip-hopper RZA and kung-fu monk Shi Yan-Ming; and “Manifestant” a fantastical rescue pic set above and below a city.
Reid called the new production arrangement “what I’ve wanted since I started in the industry” and said he was “eager to get started making great genre films at medium-range budgets.”
