Michael Moriarty (“Law and Order”) will play the father of James Dean (as portrayed by “Freaks & Geeks” regular James Franco) in the upcoming TNT telefilm “James Dean: An Invented Life” for helmer Mark Rydell (“On Golden Pond”) and scribe Israel Horovitz.

Moriarty, who recently wrapped “Along Came a Spider” with Morgan Freeman, is repped by Tyman Stewart at The Characters in Vancouver, Canada.

Lesley Ann Warren (“The Limey”) is set to co-star with Jennifer Jason Leigh in the indie feature “The Quickie” for Russian helmer Sergei Bodrov (“East-West”). Warren, who’ll next be seen in Alan Rudolph’s “Trixie” with Nick Nolte and Emily Watson, is repped by ICM and manager Peg Donegan.

Peter Stormare (“Fargo”) has inked to join Juliette Binoche in helmer Lasse Hallstrom’s feature “Chocolat” for Miramax. His latest pic is Lars von Trier’s “Dancer in the Dark,” currently screening in competition at Cannes. Stormare is repped by Paradigm.

Gabriel Macht (“The Others”) will portray Frank James in Morgan Creek’s action-comedy “Jesse James” for helmer Les Mayfield (“Blue Streak”). Joining the cast in the supporting role of Bob Younger is Will McCormack (“The Sopranos”).

Boston Celtics legend Bob Cousy will play himself in the indie comedy feature “Elvis is Alive,” based on the novel by producer Mickey Maughon. Veteran thesp Don Murray (“Bus Stop”), who also stars, is set to helm. Cousy, who made his film debut in 1994’s “Blue Chips” with Nick Nolte, represents himself.

Jon Huertas, a series regular on ABC’s “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch,” is set to star in the indie feature “Green Diggity Dog.” He also co-produces the romantic comedy. Huertas, who has a supporting role in the upcoming feature “Auggie Rose” with Jeff Goldblum and Anne Heche, is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and managed by Vincent Cirrincione & Associates.

Actress Beverly Garland, who made her screen debut in 1950’s “D.O.A.” and most recently recurred on the WB’s “Seventh Heaven,” has been tapped for a recurring role on the ABC daytime soap “Port Charles.” Garland, who played Fred MacMurray’s wife on the TV series “My Three Sons,” is repped by Pakula/King & Associates.

Veteran character actor Jorge Rivero (“Rio Lobo”) will join Richard Harris and Lukas Haas in Panorama Films’ adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “The Pearl.” Rivero is repped by David H. Moss & Associates and manager Ivan de Paz at Element 119.
